Myth Busters is back! If you haven’t seen a crash dummy destroyed, mangled or rendered useless for further activity recently, you should see what happens when a passenger puts their feet on a dashboard and the vehicle is involved in a crash were the airbag deploys. (I’m cured for life!)
Did you know that the number of fatalities related to driving is still on the increase, even with all the new safety features of vehicles?
It should come as no surprise the increases are due to “Risky Behaviors” -- yes, the human factor. Even when you take protection for yourself, it doesn’t mean the “other” driver is (or can) control their behavior to protect you!
Good News, drowsy driver incidences are down – 3.5 percent 805 fatalities in 2016
Good News, distraction related deaths are down – 2.2 percent 3,450 fatalities
BAD NEWS
Drunk Driving – up 1.7 percent 10,497 fatalities
Speed related – up 4.0 percent 10,111 fatalities
Unbelted deaths -up 4.6 percent 10,428 fatalities
We can all do our part to help make our roads safer. You know the drill.
But can you Lead yourself? Can you Lead others? Can you be the change?
Be the designated driver, take the keys, cruise control at the speed limit, fasten your seat belt! Each of you is precious, with a purpose – Let’s work together to keep it that way!
