Time to start wildfire preparations for 2017, everyone. Washington state already has their first wildfire for this year, just outside Leavenworth, WA.

Wildfire outside Leavenworth, WA - U.S. News, May 24th, 2017
With temperatures already spiking into the 80s and 90s, longer days and longer span of dry days, the chance for wildfires increases.
So, how can you prepare for them? One of our carriers, Mutual of Enumclaw, has a quick video clip that has some tips.
Keep a defensible space around your home and buildings. This means keeping the brush away, stacking wood away from the buildings, watering plants close to the buildings. More tips in the video.
Prepare an evacuation route. Actually, have two planned out in case one becomes blocked.
Prepare an emergency kit. First Aid kit, water, blankets, copies of important documents, etc.
Notify people you are evacuating. Tell neighbors, friends, family, and insurance agent so they know you are leaving & how to reach you.
Be Smart about fire. Pay attention to burn bans, extinguish cigarettes and matches thoroughly before disposal, do not set off fireworks near dry vegetation, etc.
