Insurance by the Woods is a family-owned, independent agency with offices in The Dalles, OR, Chehalis, and Onalaska, WA. Founded as Columbia Gorge Insurance Agency in the 1960s, it was later sold to James Church in 2004. In 2006, current owners Maggie and Norm Wood acquired the agency. Maggie, with insurance experience since 1980, had previously worked in management at a larger agency. Our mission: “Bringing excellent insurance products to our communities, one individual, one policy at a time.”

In 2010, Maggie and Norm bought Freed Insurance Group, expanding our reach to Western Washington. In 2013, they acquired Aahsome 3 Insurance. We operated under individual names until June 1st, 2016 when we became Insurance By The Woods. On March 3rd, 2020, Insurance by the Woods acquired the Chehalis branch of Fournier Insurance Solutions, establishing ourselves in Lewis County, WA.
